Statement from 2020 4th of July Committee - Norwalk’s 4th of July festivities update:
Today the committee (Celebrate Norwalk – members consist of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, Norwalk Hometown Pride, Norwalk Lions Club, Norwalk Rotary Club and Pat and Mike Wahl) responsible for organizing the 4th of July festivities has made the difficult decision to postpone the parade, party in the park due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, fireworks at McAninch will still happen as usual.
The decision was complex and considered a wide array of factors. The committee and the City want to help protect the health and safety of our residents. Amid the pandemic, we couldn’t, in good conscience, put on these activities and ensure social distancing throughout the day.
While we can’t predict what the COVID-19 pandemic will look like in September, Norwalk Music Fest is still planning to host their 3rd annual event on Sunday, September 6th at the Norwalk City Park from 11am – 10:30pm.
Stay tuned via Hometown Pride’s Facebook and Twitter pages, www.norwalklocal.org and www.norwalkchamber.org. The City of Norwalk will also share these posts on their social media pages.
Thank you for your patience in allowing the committee and City the time we needed to thoroughly review our options for the 4th of July festivities.
The Lions Club is accepting donations for fireworks at Lions Club Fireworks, PO Box 331, Norwalk, IA 50211.
Thank you for your continued unwavering support of our amazing community.
